Siémbrala Dance Academy
This experience is created in partnership with Siémbrala, a dance school in Medellín led by Carlos and Aleja — two salsa teachers I deeply admire for their talent, professionalism, and care.
Their classes are thoughtful, well prepared, and tailored to each dancer’s level, goals, and growth. They know how to create an environment that feels both challenging and supportive.
What makes Siémbrala special is their combination of technical excellence, warmth, and genuine care — and I’m so grateful to be building this experience with people I trust so deeply.
Why Medellín?

Meet Nina
Hi, I’m Nina. I lived in Medellín for nearly four years, and it’s where my dance journey began. Over time, I became deeply connected to the local dance scene through training with instructors across the city, attending socials, and building real relationships within the community.
That matters because this experience wasn’t created from a distance or pieced together through internet research. It’s built from firsthand experience, trusted local relationships, and a deep understanding of what can make a dance trip feel either overwhelming or truly supportive.
Medellín shaped me deeply, not only as a dancer, but as a person. It transformed how I connect, express myself, and experience the world. Creating this experience is my way of sharing the city and dance community I love, while also honoring local artists through meaningful partnership and above-market compensation.
My role is to help make your experience feel more easeful, personal, and connected from beginning to end. I’ll be there throughout the week to help guide the journey, bridge language and cultural gaps when needed, and make sure you never have to navigate it alone.

If you already have a style you’d like to focus on — on1, on2, Cuban, Cali style, or something else, we’re happy to accommodate that. If you’re unsure, we can introduce the differences and help you discover what feels best for you.
We know how intimidating it can be to bring the steps you learned in your class onto the dance floor. That’s why a practice partner will accompany you to help you build confidence, practice what you’re learning, and feel more comfortable dancing socially.
No partner is required. Solo travelers are absolutely welcome.
