Siémbrala Dance Academy — Carlos & Aleja
In partnership with

Siémbrala Dance Academy

This experience is created in partnership with Siémbrala, a dance school in Medellín led by Carlos and Aleja — two salsa teachers I deeply admire for their talent, professionalism, and care.

Their classes are thoughtful, well prepared, and tailored to each dancer’s level, goals, and growth. They know how to create an environment that feels both challenging and supportive.

What makes Siémbrala special is their combination of technical excellence, warmth, and genuine care — and I’m so grateful to be building this experience with people I trust so deeply.

We had our first salsa lessons with Carlos and were absolutely thrilled! He taught us so much in such a short time. He's patient, always in a good mood, very friendly, and motivating. Lessons are also available in English – ideal if you don't speak Spanish very well. Everything was perfect – we'll definitely be back! 🫶🏽
Such a wonderful studio! Aleja and Carlos are so friendly and welcoming. I took only four hours of private salsa classes with them and definitely noticed a difference. It was super worth it to take class with both of them at the same time, so that I could dance with Carlos and Aleja could help me with how I looked and give me ladies styling tips. They are talented teachers, super professional and organized, and have a whole system of how they teach. I’m leaving with detailed notes from Aleja on what we worked on.

I loved the private and group classes with Aleja and Carlos. They are incredible instructors; you can tell they love dance and pay close attention to detail. The private classes with Aleja were spectacular. I had tons of questions, and she took the time to explain everything. Even in the group classes, they explained so many things I've never learned at other dance schools. I recommend them 100%. Thank you so much for everything!
Extremely fun salsa classes with expert teachers who are invested in each person’s individual progress. Highly recommend.

Also - if your Spanish is not great (like mine) - teachers offer english translation & help during class!

There are many incredible dancers and dance teachers in Medellin, but no dance class has ever blown me away like Carlos and Aleja have at Siembra. Not just for their talent in dance, but everything from their professionalism, preparedness, attitude, passion, communication, and the value I got from my class. I cannot recommend them enough!!

I messaged Carlos because I wanted to work on my salsa partnerwork. First of all, Carlos' communication was responsive, clear, and informative. He answered all of my questions and it was easy to schedule. Carlos let me know that it's an option to have both him and Aleja for my class. At the moment I didn't see much of an advantage and I was feeling uncertain about spending the money, but in the end I decided to try it out just to see, and I'm so glad I did! It was totally worth it and I was able to get so much value out of my class.

I arrived to class and I was immediately impressed by how prepared Carlos and Aleja were. They had a plan in mind, but also took into consideration my dance level/experience and what my goals were. While I danced with Carlos, Aleja was able to watch me and make corrections or give me advice on how I can improve. One of my favorite things about class was Aleja's bright an enthusiastic personality, it was really motivating and uplifting which is really helpful because sometimes I can be hard on myself. Having two teachers at once also meant that they could demonstrate certain movements to me if I didn't understand something. I really felt like both teachers were really invested in helping me grow and learn. I left the class feeling an immediate improvement and confidence in my dance and feeling really excited to continue practicing and applying everything I learned. I'm so happy I decided to take a class at Siembra and I can't wait to go back for more!

For anyone reading this trying to decide if you should take classes with Carlos and Aleja--- DON'T HESITATE! :)

I had the luck to take dance lessons at Al Son, and I honestly can say that this is one of the best schools I've ever been to. What distinguish the teachers is their incredible energy and passion for what they do, but they are very technical and knowledgeable at the same time. They will forsure change the way you experience dance... in a better way! 100% recommended :)
Al Son was one of the best dancing experience I ever had, the teachers are amazing and I learned a lot about salsa in such a little time. Their dedication and passion for dancing is something beyond words. I will definitely be back!!!
